Honda's Civic Pride
After major and comprehensive development operations, ambitious? Yes, very. Honda came out with the all-new Honda Civic. I don’t want to talk about history because we all know what the Civic is and what it is capable of. We’re here to talk about the future! The development team of the Civic was an international effort, led by the Honda R&D section in North America, with sales and manufacturing operations from all over the globe. So what do I think about the new Civic? I think of it as a game changer, or as they say at Honda Corporation, “in a league of its own.”
Now everything about it is new, from A to Z. It's a whole new car regarding architecture, sophistication, and sportiness, from the inside out. More spacious and fully loaded with technologies, plus two advanced new engines.
The new Civic is powered by two brand-new engines. The first one is a 2.0L i-VTEC specifically for the LX and EX trims. The second is the new 1.5L turbocharged engine for the EX-T and EX-L trims. Of course, this is the first time for Honda to install a turbocharger; it is absolutely fuel-efficient, as it has always been. The 2.0L engine produces 158 hp at 6,500 rpm and 138 lb-ft of torque, while the 1.5L turbocharged engine gives you 174 hp at 5,500 rpm and peak torque of up to 162 lb-ft.
The look is immaculate and neat, while still having the Civic character: sleek and sporty, with swept-back body lines, but on a whole new level. Sharp and aggressive define the fascia of the new Civic, and it is completed by the LED headlights. Actually, you’ll be fascinated by their dazzle. While the lines flow and sweep all the way to the back, you’ll notice the C-shaped “Light Pipe” LED taillights.
The new Civic’s interior is designed to match the exterior. There is a lot of space thanks to a longer wheelbase and wider body, with plenty of legroom and vast headroom. You can seat five adults comfortably; it is actually one of the most spacious vehicles in its class. High-quality materials are applied generously throughout, from the instrument panel and door inserts to the thicker padding for the centre armrest, with premium finishing materials fitted throughout the cabin.
A 7-inch Display Audio touchscreen helps you stay connected more than ever inside your car. It is integrated with the new Apple CarPlay and Android Auto platforms, and much more new technology is embedded inside the all-new Civic. You’ll have to see it with your own eyes.
