When you want to talk about the history of BMW, specifically the M division and the legends that emerged from there, we should stop for a little while at the M3 E30 or the 2002 Turbo out of respect for what they did and the sentimental place they hold among the elders before the young. It's been 40 years, and still, watching them roaming the streets or gathering somewhere, they still look as sharp as they should and are still as powerful as if they had just come out of the factory. These two particular models wrote history with smoke and skid marks from their wheels, drawing guidelines for those yet to come. That's why today I'd like to tell you about the BMW M2, which is definitely marking a new era of performance while walking in the footsteps of its predecessors.
One single look at the M2 will take your breath away, and I assure you that you're going to fall in love and choose it among many others. This will happen for many reasons: the design that flashes back to BMW's racing glory, and the high performance lying under the hood waiting for you to unleash it, with its bold, fierce, lowered front, massive air vents, tattooed M Power side gills, 19-inch M Power sport wheels, and a wide, dynamic rear that includes the sport exhaust system for added aggressiveness.
From the inside, you'll see the M Power characteristics everywhere: the door panels and dashboard, all wrapped in Alcantara leather and carbon fiber, leather sport seats with blue stitching, and on the head restraints, there is the M logo, along with an M sport steering wheel with paddle shifters.
Developed only for the M2, a 3-liter inline six-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine unleashes 370 horsepower at 6,500 rpm, with fuel consumption of 8.5 liters per 100 km and CO2 emissions of 199 g/km. It delivers 465 Nm of torque with the manual 6-speed gearbox, or 500 Nm of torque if you choose the automatic 7-speed DCT gearbox. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h, electronically limited. The front and rear axles are made of lightweight aluminum, and it features M Servotronic steering, M brakes, and MDM (M Dynamic Mode), which allows the wheels to spin moderately while remaining under control.
As for the optional equipment, the list would be too long. The M DCT (M Double Clutch Transmission) allows shifting gears with no interruption in the flow of power and acceleration. There are also driver assistance systems, the ConnectedDrive system, and many other applications you can install, such as the GoPro app, which helps you film your racing laps. You also have the M Laptimer app to improve your driving techniques.
